the story of drop

drop was developed from experimenting with freeform shaping of metal.

“During this process I was inspired by memories of camping and exploring Victoria. Memories of riverbeds with polished river stones created from years of flowing water.

I wanted to see if I could capture this form and incorporate it into the process of freeform shaping of metal.”

Formed through the gravity of a selected stone, the beauty of each unique drop is the contrast between the coldness of metal and the organic unpredictability of nature.

Each piece is unique, and we form them from the same river pebble but each time the outcome varies slightly. During the development process the unveiling of each drop was like winning the lottery.

We have embraced this variation and now produce a limited edition from each stone. Each series utilises a different rock or metal shape to create a series of related but individual products.

drop borrows the form from these unique stones and returns the stones to continue their story of being shaped by the river.

Each pressing is different.
